The short month of February packed the biggest punch thus far for Spit or Swallow.  The voting were vigorous and the reviews mammoth. Let’s see who hit the top spot, voted by the public, this month:

The race was truly on this month for the most popular wine farm in SA.  March saw votes flying in all directions with only three farms making it safely to the end.

The month of April consisted mostly out of public holidays, the final drips of summer and political campaigning .  The last obviously forced a few people to the wine lands, which resulted in a lot of activity on Spit or Swallow. Luckily there’s no need to delay the announcement, or for a commercial break.  So with no further adieu here’s the top wine farms for the month of April:

Anyone living in the Cape region that didn’t make it to at least one wine estate during May, surely missed out. On offer were spectacular autumn colours and a lot of  “Kodak Moments”. It was a busy month on Spit or Swallow which consisted out of quirky comments, competitive voting and obviously a lot of drinking. So here is the Top Wine Farms for the month of May:

Sabotage and vindictive voting went hand in hand during the month of November.  It’s one thing to be a winner, but another thing if you are cheating your way to it.

The month of June consisted out of snow, soccer and wackiness. Let’s forget about the snow and the soccer for now and move on the the whacked part of the month. Over 16 000 wine flies flocked to the Robertson wine valley to celebrate wine, wine and more wine. A success story that even shows through in this months farm awards.

2010 kicked of with a bang and a record amount of votes streamed in. Various wine estates are encouraging their visitors and fans to rate and review them on Spit or Swallow either verbally at the tasting rooms or via newsletters.

December is probably as busy as it can get in the winelands. It’s a time to relax, kick back and be festive.

Love is in the air and the wineflies gave a whole lot of love

July is normally known as wet, cold and miserable in the Cape. This July was sunny, warm and pleasant. This must have encourage a few Wine Flies to breath in some fresh air, spotting the pre-mature spring flowers and of cause consuming wine at your favourite wine estates. Their votes have been calculated and the results are in.

One of Eric Clapton’s biggest selling LP’s to date is called August. No wonder the month had” Peace & Love” written all over it. The sun was shining and we all fell in love with the fact that spring has sprung early this year. The winelands were buzzing with people and these were the wine farms that received some love in return from the visitors.

Spring has spring and with that we kicked of the warmer season with WineX. Spit or Swallow invested some money in a stand at the Cape Town WineX and introduce the site to the wine drinkers out there. A lot of votes were cast over that period and it delivered a few surprises. It took us forever to calculate the votes, which came to 625 votes in total. Hence the late publishing.

Move over Beer Fest! October is now the month of wine festivals.
Franschhoek Uncorked turned out to be a huge success, despite some bad weather. Robertson tried to take it slow on the river, but got flooded by people. Breedekloof went outdoors to accommodate the crowds . The Helderberg Festival sold 4000 tickets in the first 2 hours of the festival and received more than double the amount of visitors than the previous year. Tickets for Pinotage on Tap sold out days before the event. The winelands were truly buzzing with …
