This winemaker (Duncan Savage) deserves a Noble peace prize for bringing us the best bdx white in the country…Sauvignon in french refers to savage so maybe it was a match mde in heaven..

Quite possibly the best Bordeaux white blend produced in SA with the Isliedh. (pronounced Eye Lay) Tasting room attendant was knowledgeable and entertaining. The wines however sell themselves. Not crazy about the 2 reds they produce, but then again… you don’t go to CPV for the reds. The whites all magnificent. Do the full R60 tasting – worth every cent spent.

Forget about the surroundings and the antique furnishings. Just focus on the WINES. Probably the best Sauvignon Blancs in the country and the Isliedh is iconic. Semillon and Chardonnay not too shabby either. Red wines average. Support their “Splattered Toad” range – good to see business with a conscience. Tasting Room staff knowledgable and friendly. Will be back in summer for a picnic.

Cape Point vineyards has got to be one of the best experiences that I have had in a long time. The venue is absolutely beautiful and the staff are extremely well educated and friendly. Our visit lasted well over two hours while we enjoyed the fantastic range of wines and their amazing cheese platter. I would recommend that everyone interested in great white wines should visit this tasting venue!!!

Cape Point Vineyards representative.

Dear Wine Lovers,

Whilst negative comments are painful to hear, they do indeed help us to review our service and to up our game. With regards to the lack in service, Cape Point Vineyards would like to offer our sincerest apologies – we have made changes to management and have put weekly staff meetings and training sessions in place to ensure that service runs smoothly and is top notch.

As for the location… I can admit that the outside area does leave one wanting, we will however do our utmost to ensure that our inside area remains inviting throughout the winter, and hopefully by summer time we will be able to offer you a tasting room that makes the most of our phenomenal view.

Until then, please keep on posting comments good or bad to keep us on our toes.

Beautiful location and view. Would have liked to see the outside area a bit more inviting, maybe some greenery or something? A little clinical and cold. The tasting room staff were most helpful and educated and in general we enjoyed our tasting. The Sauvignon Blanc Reserve and Semillon were my favourites.

A very disappointing tasting experience. There was confusion with the tasting that we selected at the beginning. I went back to ask for the full tasting, but at the end still received the standard tasting and if I did not check, they would have billed us R60 per person for the R30 tasting. They lady that served us rambled off the back label of each wine. She told us nothing about the estate what so ever.

The atmosphere was zero to none. It felt as if we where tasting wine in a back courtyard town house which overlooked big cement blocks that looked like septic tanks (probably the cellar??) which they are probably not, but due to lack of service we had to make up our own perception of the place. I really expected a sea view seeing that they are situated at the beginning of Chapmans Peak and on the edge of the ocean.

The wines were not bad. Wanted to try this famous Isliedh, but again even after they made a mistake with our tasting we were not offered any. I did feel that the wines were overpriced for what you get. The cheese platter that we order for R120 was great and I really enjoyed that. The only highlight of our tasting.

The Isliedh is the very-very best white wine I have ever tasted! It is to die for, and worth the price.
The wine farm’s tasting area does not have much atmosphere, but the sommelier was knowledgeable and friendly. The fantastic wine makes up for the lack of character of the location.

Very neat and formal tasting room. From the reception you get on arrival and the atmosphere you kinda get the sense that they just want you to taste and leave and not get too comfortable. The worst bit is you pay R40 for a tasting and 3 of the wines are not available.
The wines are worthwhile and promising for the reds, the white speaks for itself.
The host Michael was professional and scripted( said what he was told to say)

Impressive tasting room, pleasant tasting although not all the wines were available. Three top wines sold out, waiting for next releases ‘early in 2010′. We paid for a full tasting so were a bit disappointed not to be able to taste Isliedh, chardonnay and semillon. Super Sauvignons.

Great tasting, nice location, little pricey – but who cares when their whole range is that good and on offer. Oh, and bonus points for being open on Sunday too.

Overpriced and complicated tasting experience. Although I understand why a charge is made for tasting the price to enjoyment seems expensive. Disappointing.

The tasting room is built in what was one of the Kaolin mining operation structures and besides the stunning wines, is home to some of Sybrand Van Der Spuy’s antique collection. There is an intricate inlaid cabinet which was commissioned by President Paul Kruger as well as 300 year old tapestry.
Jennifer gave fantastic service and there are various tastings that you can do, from just two wines to the whole range including the fabulous Isliedh. They also offer a sustantial cheese board.
