Very neat and formal tasting room. From the reception you get on arrival and the atmosphere you kinda get the sense that they just want you to taste and leave and not get too comfortable. The worst bit is you pay R40 for a tasting and 3 of the wines are not available.
The wines are worthwhile and promising for the reds, the white speaks for itself.
The host Michael was professional and scripted( said what he was told to say)

Impressive tasting room, pleasant tasting although not all the wines were available. Three top wines sold out, waiting for next releases ‘early in 2010′. We paid for a full tasting so were a bit disappointed not to be able to taste Isliedh, chardonnay and semillon. Super Sauvignons.

Great tasting, nice location, little pricey – but who cares when their whole range is that good and on offer. Oh, and bonus points for being open on Sunday too.

Overpriced and complicated tasting experience. Although I understand why a charge is made for tasting the price to enjoyment seems expensive. Disappointing.

The tasting room is built in what was one of the Kaolin mining operation structures and besides the stunning wines, is home to some of Sybrand Van Der Spuy’s antique collection. There is an intricate inlaid cabinet which was commissioned by President Paul Kruger as well as 300 year old tapestry.
Jennifer gave fantastic service and there are various tastings that you can do, from just two wines to the whole range including the fabulous Isliedh. They also offer a sustantial cheese board.
