Most of the wines tasted here were pretty average with their wood matured Chard being the one saving grace. The tasting venue and restaurant area is what makes the place worth a visit. Quaint with great views of the Franshhoek valley.

The wines here still have some long way to go. either the white wine had been open for ages or they where just Plain Flat. The reds where better. The host Randell was awesome, informative and friendly. The tasting venue was cute and the lunch almost made me forget about the poor white wine

Although probably not the best wines in South Africa, they have improved greatly over my past three visits. However where La Petite Ferme comes into its own is with its amazing location and restaurant. Very good food, excellent staff and you can’t beat a very relaxed day sitting in the grounds while you order lunch and then later with a glass of your favourite tipple and/or coffee. Book a window table.

After visiting quite a few wine estates, we decided that it was time to stabilize the alcohol levels. We opted for a lunch at La Petite Ferme. We enjoyed some starters, mains and fine wine while capturing the amazing view over the Franschhoek valley.

Ready for round two, we stopped at the tasting room, which forms part of the restaurant. Our host Werner Els was friendly and informative and we enjoyed every sip of each wine on tasting. Oakie, smokie and oh so fruity! My personal favourites: The Barrel Fermented Chardonnay 2007 @ R92 and the Shiraz…….YUMMY!

Good food, great wine and awesome people!

We had such a good time while tasting the wine, that I completely forgot to take some inside photos. A good excuse for a revisit I would say!
