Beautiful tasting room which is run like a top-end hospitality establishment with well-trained staff. The wines are good across the board, if a little pricey. Love the Millenium Bordeaux blend and all of the Pierneef range.

One should be 100% sober when visiting the farm to appreciate the vast array of wines on sale. Good service although a tad slow and clearly rehearsed. Wines are quite expensive…seems worth it though.

Budget a fair amount of time when you visit La Motte since it is a place where you can get stuck. Elegant tasting room, with couches where you can taste all of their fantastic wines. The entire Pierneef Collection is outstanding but if you’re on a budget watch out for the Classic collection Sauv Blanc and Shiraz.

Fantastic new tasting facility. Majority of the wines awesome. Love the Pierneef collection. Tasting room attendant was a bit short on wine knowledge, but I forgave him and just enjoyed the wine.

An amazing transformation into one of the most exceptional and exciting tasting rooms in the Winelands – well done La Motte!

This is sure to become a Franschhoek flagship venue. The tasting area is impressive but not brash, clean but not sterile and opulent without being ostentatious. It’s a smart place to relax.
Great wines in general; spend a little extra and try those listed on the reverse of the wine list. Service was good and the staff very friendly. The tray with (proper) glassware, napkin, water and bread all add to the experience.

Wow! BIG improvement on the tasting room. Money well spend! The place makes you feel like a rich bitch and I just LOVE it! Elegant, sophisticated and drop dead gorgeous.

Of all the ‘fancy’ places I’ve been in our beautiful winelands, this one rates in the top three. Don’t get me wrong, the smaller rustic/ethnic farms are still preferred but when it comes to spending those Investor Millions, La Motte shines as it takes both the classic and modern and forges a marriage of esthetic excellence. This is where over-the-top come to be almost royal. There’s still construction going on outside, but when finished, it promises to be one of SA’s best.

We seated ourselves after a long day of wine tasting in the lounge which is part of a massive, open space and where you can look into the spacious cellar where the barrels are kept or through the glass panels stretching to the roof, into the fermentation room with its impressive tanks (with its own elevator) – amazing.

As I mentioned, this was one of the last stops for the day, so I could not recall the wines. But the service, literally silver-plate service, was out of this world and I will definitely return once the farm is completely finished, and a sober state of mind allows me to enjoy their offerings. For now, I’ll get my bottle of La Motte Merlot from Woolies and reminisce of a time where toilet paper is branded and service excels.

Situated in the beautiful Franschhoek Valley, La Motte has that real wine estate feel to it. With old white buildings and beautiful surroundings they have a winning combination here.

The tasting room itself was a bit stiff, but our host Angela Williams, made us feel at home. The wine was good and not as pricey as I thought it would be. I will absolutely be back to buy some more Shiraz.

There is obviously no shortage of money here, because they are building a new tasting room and Restaurant at La Motte. I’m looking forward to re-visit them in July to see what it looks like.

This estate which forms part of the stable of wine farms owned by the illustrious Rupert family, is as can be expected from a Rupert farm brilliant very professional tasting, and very well priced wines. the tasting room is currently on in a temporary setting. But even though it is a large and beautiful old Cape Dutch/ French Huguenot manor house with art work and old barrels. True to its roots the farm produces some awesome French wines and hopefully the main tasting room will be finished soon!…Can wait!
