Tell us about your experience at Chamonix
A hit and miss but do try…when you get the happy staff it is truly memorable. Like the chardonnay.
Great wines very good value for money and bought some lovely wine glasses.
This most be one the coziest little tasting venues around. So for atmosphere they get a 10. The lady that served us was friendly and new the very basics so a 6 for that. The quality of the wines was outstanding, the Chardonnay delicate and posied. Problem was half the wines are sold out or unavailable for tasting, they don’t wont people tasting their flagship wines seems very short sighted to me. The cost of the wines seemed very fair when you compare the overall quality to price. Would love to go back in winter and try the Pinot Noir should it be available for tasting.
Lovely setting outside under the trees, no rush about the tasting so don’t go if you’re in a hurry, but otherwise just relax and chill. Chamonix Rouge is amazing value for money.
First time I went we had a cellar tour and experience was very nice. Second time was terrible. No wines to taste, only the bottom of the barrel cheap stuff and unfriendly host
awesome pinot noir, ok setting, very small, but the service was poor!!!! wil just go again to buy the pinot noir!!!
. . .I remember arriving, as well as some schnapps. . .the rest was a blur. Great location and views of Franschoek!
I’ve always wanted to come to Chamonix for a tasting, and this weekend I fnally did. They had six wines available for tasting, of which you could choose five. Unfortunately their Pinot Noir Reserve was not one of them. But their wines really impressed me. Their Sauvignon Blanc Reserve is a very special white wine and I also quite liked the Pinotage. But the real surprise for me was the Chamonix Rouge. It has a wonderful nose and lovely fruity taste without being sweet. And it only cost R30 a bottle! That wine is a little gem.
They also have a wide variety of distilled products available for tasting. We tried the pear schnapps (VERY strong!) and the pamplemousse, which was a very nice ending to our tasting.
I loved this one! The tasting room is very old and atmospheric – it was freezing the day we went there and it felt so cosy inside so it was a great place to linger. The grappa was interesting! We stayed in a self catering cottage on the farm so it was a nice close trip for us too.
Don’t go on a saturda the staff there are questionable and they should know more about their wine
On our arrival at Chamonix we where informed that they only have 6 wines on tasting out of the 12 on the price list. We then decided to be a bit more adventures and opted for the distilled products that they have on tasting. Our host Mandy, started us of with the 3 year old brandy. The wild fig pamplemousse was next and it was my personal favourite. There after we tried the pear, plum and apple Schnapps followed by the Grappa. Things got a bit blurry after that…
One thing that I can say, we had a great time there. It was refreshing to visit a place that offered something different. The perfect pit stop!
I agree on the dingy cellar! Spider-ish!
Not my favourite wines and the wine tasting is in a very dingy cellar
