What a great surprise, we popped in at Calabas bush pub for a quick sundowner when we ran into a dude from Lateganskop Winery. We shared some interesting info on wine and had a great time.
Loved Calabas. Perfect stop for a beer. A MUST visit.

Lateganskop is situated on the R303 that runs from Wellington, over Bainskloof to Ceres. The scenery is magical and the wine is really good and extremely affordable. We were lucky enough to do the tasting with the winemaker and owner Heinrich Lategan. He was friendly and down to earth and made our tasting extremely memorable. After ordering a few bottles of wine we discovered that they do not have credit card facilities. Heinrich said that it’s not a problem, gave us his banking details and said we can make a payment whenever we are able to. Now where do you get people like that?
We bought quite a few bottles, including a Cabernet Sauvignon 2003 for R22 and a Ruby Cab for R15….yes R15!
We had a great experience and will revisit them again and again.
