The wines are really average, nothing stands out. Try the sauvignon blanc, and be sure to visit the massive quarry dam at the back of the tasting room, I am sure there are massive carp in there…almost caught me one a while ago!

Very nice wines. Nice surroundings with excellent views. Very poor service at the restaurant – all three times visited. Rather visit just for the wine tatsing.

I had breakfast last Wednesday. A very nice omelette, good service. then the wine tasting – Good wines. I enjoyed the cab/merlot most. (value for money)

Visited on a public holiday and the restaurant was packed. We could taste wine though and the 2 staff members were very friendly and helpful. They are clearly used to the average Joe wanting to buy the cheapest possible wine. Their unlabelled red is fantastic value for money.

Visited Hillcrest to taste their wines, but no one showed interest in pouring us wine – so we left after 20 minutes (neither the restaurant nor the wine tasting room were busy). Gave them a second chance a few weeks later and once again no one were willing to pour us wine, even after we have requested a wine tasting twice. This time we left for good.

Looking forward to returning after a hiatus of a couple of years. Previous experiences were good. Pity about the pint sized tasting room.

Wow, again. Karlin and her mother really know how to spoil there customers with a great welcoming attitude. I got there on a very busy Tuesday lunch time but still managed to get through the crowd and enjoy all there amazing wines.
I could go through the list and tell you what I enjoyed about each wine but I will rather just say, get off your ass and make your way down there! You will not be dissapointed….

Hillcrest has a nice selection of wines. However, as a student I have recieved warmer welcomes elsewhere. The tasting area is a little bit small and doesn’t really accomodate large groups. The cellar area gives the place a nice feel though. The first time I went there we tasted 2 wines, then went for a cellar tour and a chat with the winemaker (a nice guy), and when we got back to the tasting area our wine glasses had been removed. My second trip there was a lot better though… We even got olives.
I hope more wine farms get student friendly, as we are the future of wine sales in SA.

Say CHEESE! We enjoyed some awesome cheeses and superb wines at Hillcrest last night. Cheese addict, Didier Bertrand, showcased some of the best hand made cheeses that South Africa has to offer and Karlin from Hillcrest, kept our glasses full with their amazing wines.

Super happy to hear that they bottled their 2009 Rose yesterday. We even got a taste and OMG, YUMMY!
Karlin, you better phone me as soon as it’s available for purchase.

Other highlights:The 2007 Merlot was out of this world, especially if you take in consideration that it’s still quite young. My personal favourite: the 2006 Cabernet Sauvignon/Merlot! We ended off with the last golden drops of their Late Harvest accompanied by some Gorgonzola. To die for!

We as Cape Townians should feel honored to have this amazing wine estate right at our door steps.

Hillcrest would have been my stop everyday after work if I had to stay in the Durbanville area. Our host was friendly and made us feel at home. They have olives and olive oil on tasting as well and with the restaurant and the good wine they have a winning combination. The tasting area creates a friendly and festive environment among it’s guests. The wine was excellent and very well priced. Will definitely pop in every time I’m on that road for a quick glass….or two.

I love Hillcrest Estate with their fantastic olives and exceptional wines! The Merlot is a fantastic wine and no wonder they sold their Trophy wine out in 3 weeks time! We were there with the Sauvignon Blanc festival and what a blast!! They had Flat Stanley and Louise Carver there! What a fantastic venue for summer concerts!!!!

I had one of the best wine tastings at Hillcrest the past week.
