Have always enjoyed their whites and think that their standard whites are excellent value for money but really enjoyed their upmarket Rhinofields whites even more. Did not particularly like the reds. The experience at the farm was very poor though. We went on the public holiday and was told that the tasting room closes at 13;30 and that they stop people comming in after 13;00. This makes sense as it gives tasters an opportunity to come in before 1pm and relax and not be that rushed as well as allowing the staff to close to 13;30. However to my dismay, when we arrived at 12:50 we were told by an impatient host that they close the doors at 13:00 and therefore we can only tast 1 or two wines. When I told them that it says you close at 13:30 they agreed and grungingly served us a full quota of tastes. This is specifically what the rule above is meant to avoid but we were rudely greeted by someone who just wanted a reason to go home early. Left a realy sour taste in the mouth.

Consistent quality, good value for money, and every wine displays typical character of the particular varietal. Loved the Bastion in terms of value for money. Awesome restaurant.

Excellent wine tasting venue, very friendly people, complimented by a restaurant of note.

Cold and heartless are my first impressions…even though the tasting room was empty we had to ask if we “may” taste some wine. Mass produced wine at crazy prices.

Experienced an good averaged wine tasting. Absolutely love the sauvignon blanc. Visited the restaurant twice. During the first visit we ordered the a la carte menu from top to bottom. Enjoyed everything although a bit costly. The second time we had the Sunday buffet – very disappointing, the food were cold and tasteless.

Even though they have their place in the wine industry, the wine feels almost factory made – especially the “normal” bottom end range. The tasting room is too clinical – feels like an office block. Staff well trained, but cold. The sort of place you visit once, and never again.

DBVHills provides a cool, relaxed atmosphere to taste really great wines at your leisure. Their premium range is more for everyday drinking (which luckily is affordable enough to do so) and teir Rhinofields and Single Vineyard ranges deserve all the awards they get!

PS. As the place was quite full for the festival I did not get a stiff upper lip at all while there, I am happy to say…

Was there for the Sauvignon Blanc Fest – must say didn’t know you can get so many different Sauvignon Blancs from the same farm to taste so different from each other!

I loved them though, really enjoyed the Durbanville Hils Sauv Blanc 2008 + 2009..

The Restaurant experience was nice, the whole vibe is very cold and clinical like a hospital. Agree on the wines with Andrew the Rhino field range is better. Another Distell baby.

Durbanville Hills is a modern and hi-tech Estate with a great view over…. Parklands. The tasting room is big and appears a bit cold and stiff. Our host was friendly and made our tasting experience enjoyable. The wines are average and a bit pricey for what you get. The restaurant seems nice but also a bit “stiff upper lip”. Great views though.
