Tell us about your experience at Rhebokskloof Wines
Great tasting room and super service! Thoroughly enjoyed the wines, the Reserve Shiraz was an absolute spoil!! Being someone who knows a fair amount about wine, it was a delight to experience such professional service – informative, accurate and spoken with confidence! Nice, please reward her for this!
Very nice Shiraz and Chardonay would buy that again.
Beautiful old farm resting on its laurels…the wine, restaurant and even garden has that “just doing what we should to keep them coming” feeling.
Busy Ommiberg day had the tasting room spinning a bit, but in spite of a hiccup or two, service was friendly and cheerful. Impressed by 2007 Chardonnay and both Shirazes. Gardens are beautiful. Look forward to returning for a picnic and music event. Tank samples viognier and chardonnay.
Our host Charne was polite and friendly and said only what she had to say. The tastin room is in the cellar and is rather different with large paintings on the wall. The wines are ok! slightly overpriced and the MCC is such a let down the beautifull garden makes up for everything though!1 nice place for a picnic
Great venue with the duck pond and all. Our host Jacques was friendly and helpful. The fireplace was an added bonus on a chilly Saturday morning.
I felt that the wines were a bit overpriced for what you get. It’s not bad, but it’s not worth R60 for the reds. I’ll pay R40. Great spot though!
Our first stop in the Paarl area (en ‘n Rhebok wat daar teen die randtjie staan), this farm was named after a lonely Ribok (Rhebok) that roamed the vineyards and never left since 1797. I understand why he never did. The farm is gorgeous and a picturesque with horses and trees and water and grass . . . . mmmm . . . I want to go back.
We entered the reception area, which wasn’t the usual place for their tastings but due to the cold weather we were seated here in front a freshly stacked fireplace. This area was so cool, I decided that my loft in town would be built on the same concept.
For R15 we could taste 5 of their bottles on offer (refundable on purchase). The Pino was faint (personally, I prefer heavier wines), the Shiraz was super cool but their Sandstone Groves Hill Syrah Reserve wine was amazing. This wine also won a French Award Wine (sorry Jacques, I still didn’t get the name). Their Brut sparkling was also nice and the Method Cap Classique smelled like burned matches (maybe I sat too close to the fire) and was ok.
Be prepared to swallow (because they really fill up that tasting glass) and stay, why not make it a day . . .
Next stop UNDER OAKS!
We didn’t taste the wines but it’s a picturesque setting to have brunch!
Nice wedding venue, service was below average, wine average.
