Tell us about your experience at Mulderbosch Vineyards
@Michael Olivier – Jan’s offline so answering on his behalf. We spent an afternoon with Mike Dobrovic (obviously before he moved on to new challenges), tasting, listening and learning.
@Jan Langenhoven – Mike who would that be you tasted with at Mulderbosch?
Had a great tasting with Mike what an interesting man.
Not only do I love the story about the faithful hound, but the actual wine is great too. The tasting area is very nice and show’s the owner and winemaker’s passion for sport. However more passion is put into the wines, as they never disappoint. Great job guys.
This is one of my favourite estates as it is more than just a wine experience but also a cultural experience. The tasting room has a cozy atmosphere with the fireplace and I cannot remember the wine maker’s name but he was passing us pieces of paper with different poetry. The wines are really tasty with some real favourites and it is a warm and comfortable environment.
My hubby and I had the pleasure of staying on the farm overnight. We had a guided tour trough the vineyards the next day with Mike. What a great man with many a tale to tell! Awesome……………
Although Mulderbosch wines are on tasting at Kanu, I’ve always wanted to visit the them to place a mental picture next to their excellent wines.
We were welcomed by a friendly Amanda, how introduced us to the two assistant wine makers, Erina Cillie and Annalie van Dyk. Unfortunately the main man behind the wine, Mike Dobrovic, was on leave. All the more reason for a re-visit
Erina and Annalie conducted our tasting and we started with the Steen-op-hout Chenin Blanc, which was crispy and yummy. Some others that stood out for me: The Barrel Fermented Chardonnay 2006, as well as the Sauvignon Blanc 2008. Absolutely awesome! We were lucky enough to taste the pre-released Small Change Chenin Blanc 2008. The wine is named after Mike’s dog, Small Change. The packaging of this wine is quite unique. Each bottle will be rapped in personalized paw-printed paper (Small Change’s foot signature:-) and presented in a tin. Can’t wait for the wine to be released, because it’s absolutely GREAT! Collectors item alert!!!!
They are busy renovating their new tasting room and I can’t wait to experience another great day with awesome people and superb wines.
Booked a tour and were guided around by the winemaker himself (Clinton who’s subsequently left). Fantastic wines and a farm with lots of character!
The wine maker there is a former USWCS member and eevrytime we go there he knows how to treat us.
The steen op hout is awesome and so is the price. tasted the whole range and some very impressive wines. faithfull hound and Beta centauri wow
