Nothing beats sitting down with the winemaker himself , Etienne Le Riche, and listen to him talk about his wines… one of my favourite estate experiences.
Le Riche is a very underated wine but some upper class restaurants like the Butcher Shop in Nelson Mandela Square are smart enough to promote this great wine. The farm was also fantastic and the quality was remarkable
One of the most under rated wine farms scores a 10 only because tthe wines are so awesome and everything else pales ones you taste the wine.
On the 31st of January 2009, we stopped at Le Riche Wines. What a wonderful surprise, as we we treated to a personal tasting with the assistant winemaker, who was extremely informative. Knowing the wines to be of exceptional quality, it was amazing to find the cellar to be quite small with only Etienne Le Riche and his assistant winemaker doing all the work, most being very manual, no fancy technology here. This hard work and passion comes through on the wine!
This is definitely a hidden away cellar worth visiting.
