:-( 2010-07-30T18:00:34Z |

Tell us about your experience at Kleinood
Enjoying a Tamboerskloof 2006 on a cold and wet Cape Town eve and it still rocks like this farm does!
My first experience at Kleinood was thanks to the Helderberg Wine festival. I tasted the Rose and bought three bottles. Have one left and the thought is killing me. I want more…..
Slap me with and African Sitar!! This is a true hided gem!!
In stark contrast stand the humbleness of their winemaking to the grandness of the farm’s appearance both of which, adds to their uniqueness. If you tilt your head up at the entrance to the tasting room to take in the huge green doors’ beauty, your jaw drops and stays that way as you enter the tasting room. An eclectic mix of African animal horns and tin pots as spittoons, the massive entrance door imported from India, the Gothic doors that lead into the sellar (I think) and modern massive porcelain (I think) lights dripping from the high ceiling makes for an orchestra of sensational enjoyment with nothing o.t.t.
They were just about to wrap up for the Helderberg Festival, on Sunday, when we arrived, and wasn’t greeted but welcomed by the owner and his son who took pleasure and pride in telling us about their farm, its history and their wines. The latter being an achievement which is more impressive than their polar blue eyes. Labeled under Tamboerskloof, the wines take on their own character and sticks to no recipes of winemaking, which makes them as unique as the farm.
All in all, a great farm, with warm people and a stunning selection of wines.
More people should have the ‘privilege’ to enjoy this farm and its wines (they are not open for public tastings) and if you bang the doors really hard and scream really load you might just have.
Wow! What a great find. Just a pity that they are only open by appointment, cause they have such a charming place.
So they are the people behind the Tamboerskloof wines and it absolutely delicious! The Rose, to the Viognier, right through to the Syrah! They are all delightful and extremely well priced. Their passion for wine shines through so bright, it can damage your eyes.
Talking about eyes (or rather eye candy), we first met the owner, who has the bluest eyes I’ve ever seen. Then we met the son, wow! The splitting image of his father with eyes that will turn your legs into jelly! So if you don’t fall in love with the wines, you’ll definitely fall in love with either the father or the son!
Definitely my best find during the Helderberg Festival!
so finally after years of Pondering i found out the source of the tamboorskloof syrah and Viognier. and it was worth it.
Small boutique winery slightly overshadowed by waterford in stature but up there in terms of wine quality. Simple tasting room only open on appointments
definately worth the wait
