WOW WOW WOW…why does it take a swiss in RSA to show us how it should be done? Great wines and also an awesome restaurant

Beautiful tasting room and awesome wines. Get the Quartz Stone Chardonnay, normal Chardonnay, Pinot Noir, Syrah or even the ZIn… all worth a purchase.

A very nice place to get your taste on. Tortoise Hill wine were nice and the staff were friendly. The artwork that was displayed was a little freaky though. Great views from the balcony. Overall a good experience.
Enjoy…

The tasting room at Glen Carlou is absolutely beautiful. You can enjoy your wine tasting on the balcony while taking in the breathtaking view. Our tasting assistant was well informed and they have a very good selection of wines available for tasting. We paid a bit extra to taste their two flagships, the Stone Quarts Chardonnay and the Gravel Quarry Cabernet Sauvignon, but might as well not have bothered. Their classic range Chardonnay was much nicer and I simply did not like the Gravel Quarry. It had a metallic nose and the taste was quite strange. I was assured that it was not a bad bottle and that it was supposed to taste like that.
But apart from that, their wines were of very high quality. I particularly like the value-for-money Tortoise Hill range. You’d be hard pressed to find better wines for that price elsewhere. So altogether a very pleasant tasting experience.

I could happily sit here for hours and enjoy the view, whist enjoying the wines, the Sauvignon Blanc is very easy drinking and I love the Zinfandel. Great food and excellent value!

Tottaly love the Grand Classique, tasting room and art gallery not to my taste but it’s about the wines isn’t it?

I totally agree. Great setting, brilliant view, nice restaurant, very weel informed tastingroom staff, and they share their knowledge, great wine. And i love “the welder” and the tortoise hill range, very well priced, other wines also great. Going again this weekend

Glen Carlou has a beautiful and modern tasting room with and amazing view over the Paarl valley. Looking down from the balcony one can see the amazing Zen fynbos garden which brings peace and tranquility to the estate.

Our host was friendly and a big up for the Riedel tasting glasses. An art gallery forms part of the tasting room. The art is not for sale, it’s the owners private collection. (lucky bastard!) The wine was excellent and we had an awesome time. For the first time we tasted a Californian Cultivar Zinfandel. See…wine tasting can be very informative for the brain!
