Tell us about your experience at Dornier Wines
Been here a couple of times always had a good time. Excellant white blend.
@Maggie Mostert – Hi Maggie. I would like to follow up on your experience. Please contact me at 021 880057. Thanks.
Wine is average. Beautiful farm not being done justice by the service and products. Had an appointment to see the restaurant manager who couldn’t be bothered to show up. I will never go there again.
Had Tapas & wine there yesterday. Wasn’t too impressed with their wines, but the setting and food is great. Shame that you almost need a Phd to order food, as everything seems an exception instead of the norm. The welcome was rather cold. You would think that arriving at 5:30pm, i.e. half an hour after their taps special started, you would be welcomed to a table etc. Staff tried looking the other way, and felt that I had to request their attention. Tapas is also meant for exactly 4 people, no less, no more. Weird as you would have expected a two person platter to be more marketable. Anyway, thanks to the grace of the Chef, we were allowed to order it for two. In short: great place, but a lit more animo & marketability would do great here. I will coming back for a lunch and a dinner to experience it fully, hopefully it will be better!
Had a great day at Bodega restaurant yesterday. Lovely stoep, play area for kids and good food. Service a bit slow but friendly.
Great view and love the design of the labels etc to reflect great cellar design.
It was time for lunch and we decided to go to this estate. From the outside it looks very ‘English Garden’ and stiff to some extend with all the linier lines. But once you enter, Africa jumps at you in an array of colour and flea market funfair (not in a bad way). It reminded me of Obs’ unique and laid-back charm, and that’s what you want to do when visiting a farm. We didn’t focus on their wines (had Graceland Shiraz 2005 with lunch) as food was a priority. The restaurant seems like its Mexican expired but with a funky African twist and mixed with fine dining (to a degree) of homemade intrigue. An Eclectic Patsy Indeed!! The only thing missing: personalised service. It felt as if the service personnel were recruited from Wimpy.
The duck and veg spring rolls were big, crunchy and full of flavour & the cheese platter . . . mmmmwah!
Extra swallow for uniqueness!
^M^
Very stylish building. People in tasting room where a bit stuck up and arrogant. all they did was pour wine and did not have much to say about it.
190320092470Beautiful on the outside and stylish on the inside. It’s just a pity that our host did not interact with us at all. She was friendly, but literally just poured our wine and left us at the counter. The computer that she was busy on, was clearly more important than the customers. It would have been nice if she shared some history with us on the estate and their wines.
The restaurant (Bodega) looked really interesting and if I ever do visit them again, I’ll book a table there. The food looked amazing and the waiters were hot and friendly.
Always “fully booked” for lunch but a bunch of empty tables; wine tasting was a sales pitch.
Great food & great ambience.
Fantastic cellar door experience, friendly and knowledgeable staff and good restaurant too, most of the wines are superb
Great winery, beautiful restaurant and stoep, great food and very nice wines. Most stunning view…. For eating reservation may be saver.
Amazing
