My experience was not the best, even though the view is breathtaking. It definitely influenced my taste buds. It felt like we intruded and the tasting attendant didn’t really tell us much about the wines, even though I asked several questions to get her talking.

I should definitely go back again, and give them another try.

The wines have improved dramatically the past few years, and the restaurant is great as well. A beautiful view on the vineyards, for a moment you might even think you are in Burgundy…

Beautiful farm. Their wines are not 100% to my taste but they seem to get good reviews…the staff were friendly and informative.

Although I went again to stock up on wine supplies yesterday and make use of all their wine specials, the restaurant is now open and I need to create a gap to go and road test the restaurant properly!

Doing a tasting in a spacious, lounge-type set up, overlooking the Devon Valley with light classical music and a small fire completing the symphony of ecstasy, is the way to do it and makes for a bloody brilliant experience. Oh, and this is only surpassed by their award winning wines by the way. Jenny was our Lady O’Vino and Roxy our Doggy O’Vino. They were both great hosts.

My summarised opinion of the wines: Sauv Blanc bursts with fruitiness. The Cabernet/Shiraz was not my tea in a cup. The Cabernet/Merlot broke my tongue with intrigue. Then the Pinotage Reserve which I found difficult to define and classify with one character. Luved it! Then the Auret!! WOW! Bend me over and spank me! This is a brilliant wine and I absolutely recommend this for any wine connoisseur’s collection!

All and all: FABULOUS FARM!!

I can drink wine and get pampered at the same time? NO WAY! I found a piece of heaven! Situated just outside Stellenbosch, Clos Malverne is definitely the hottest new Wine Estate to visit in the country. The view is absolutely breath taking and the wine even better. The tasting room has a stylish and fresh look, with comfortable couches and modern chairs. The tasting room manager, Jenny Burger, was friendly and made us feel right at home.

She started our tasting with their Sauvignon Blanc and then we moved onto their reds. Jenny was informative and told us that Clos Malverne was the first farm to print the words Cape Blend on their labels. If there is more than 25% Pinotage in the blend it makes it a Cape blend. The wine is reasonably priced and very good value for money. No spitting here!

I popped in at the spa after my tasting and I can not wait to book a Saturday there with the girls. Their prices are very affordable and you can get anything from a Grape Seed Body Exfoliation, to a Pinotage Grape Skin Bath. No more around the corner beauty salon treatments for me. I can think of nothing better than a Swedish full body massage, a bottle of Clos Malverne Sauvignon Blanc and a “gossip-day” out with the girls.

I got invited to their second lunch party last night. Some of the VIP could not make it to the first one than was held in December 2008.

Thanks so much to the team at Clos Malverne! The food was yummy!!!!! The wine was excellent (as usual) and the setting magical. Maybe they should consider doing this once a month! I’ll pay to go!

Well well
What a new years surprise…an extravagant spa on a wine est.
With full bodied red blends that absolutely blow your mind……ooo but
don’t let me get started on their Sauvignon Blanc, with a New Zealand style crisp to it,
so explained to me by the handsome PR of the farm.
The crowd at Clos Malverne is very clued up, incredibly friendly
and we felt like part of the family with the awesome stories that where told
about the wine and farm.
A must try and buy is the Sauvignon Blanc and the Auret -Cape blend

Ps. Hello Roxy…the friendliest pooch this side of Stellenbosch.
